How It Works

MaidServSA connects homeowners with domestic cleaning workers through a simple, step-by-step process. Whether you're posting a job or looking for work, here's everything you need to know.

For Homeowners (Clients)

Step 1: Create Your Account

Sign up for free as a Client. Fill in your basic details, add a profile photo, and you're ready to go. There is no cost to join or use the platform.

Step 2: Post a Job

From your dashboard, create a new job posting. You'll be asked to provide:

  • Location -- Start typing your address and select it from the suggestions. Your exact address stays private until you accept a worker.
  • Dates -- Select one or more dates on the calendar for when you need the work done.
  • Property details -- Enter the number of rooms, bathrooms, and the size of the area to be cleaned.
  • Pricing -- Choose between:
    • Fixed -- a single agreed price for the whole job.
    • Hourly -- a rate per hour.
  • Description -- Describe what you need. Not sure what to write? Click the AI assist button and let our AI draft a clear description based on your property details.
  • Images -- Optionally upload photos of the space to give workers a better idea of the job.

Step 3: Review Applications

Once your job is posted, domestic workers in your area can apply. You'll receive a notification each time someone applies. For each applicant, you can review:

  • Their profile and bio
  • Their uploaded CV
  • Their answers to experience questions
  • Their ratings and reviews from past jobs

Take your time and choose the best match for your needs.

Step 4: Communicate

When you accept an applicant, the job moves to In Progress and real-time messaging opens between you and your worker. Use the chat to:

  • Discuss job details and expectations
  • Share images or PDF documents
  • Coordinate arrival times and access

All conversations are kept on the platform for your records and protection.

Step 5: Complete and Rate

When the work is done, mark the job as Completed from your dashboard. You'll then be able to leave a rating (1 to 5 stars) and an optional written review for your worker. Your honest feedback helps the community and helps great workers get recognised.

For Domestic Workers (Maids)

Step 1: Build Your Profile

Sign up for free as a Maid. A strong profile helps you stand out to potential clients:

  • Upload your CV -- Show your qualifications and work history.
  • Complete the experience questionnaire -- Answer questions about your cleaning skills and experience so clients can see what you bring to the table.
  • Add a photo and bio -- A friendly photo and a short description about yourself make a great first impression.

Step 2: Find Jobs

Go to the Find Work tab to browse available jobs. Use the search filters to narrow down results:

  • Location and distance -- Enter your area or use GPS, then set a radius to see jobs near you.
  • Price range -- Filter by minimum and maximum pay.
  • Date range -- Find jobs that fit your schedule.
  • Property size -- Filter by number of rooms, bathrooms, or area size.
  • Payment type -- Choose Fixed or Hourly jobs.
  • Sort results -- Order by distance, price, date, or newest postings.
  • Search by keyword -- Look for specific types of cleaning work.

Step 3: Apply

Found a job that suits you? Write a personal message to the homeowner explaining why you're a great fit. If you're not sure what to say, click the AI assist button and the platform will help draft a professional message based on your profile and the job details.

Submit your application and wait to hear back. You can apply to as many jobs as you like.

Step 4: Get Accepted

When a homeowner accepts your application, you'll receive a notification. The job moves to In Progress and messaging opens so you can coordinate directly with the client. This is when you'll also see the full job address.

Step 5: Complete and Get Rated

Do your best work, and after the job is marked complete, the client will rate your performance. Great ratings help you attract more clients and build a strong reputation on the platform. You'll also have the opportunity to rate the client.

Understanding Job Status

Every job on MaidServSA goes through a lifecycle. Here's what each status means:

StatusWhat It Means
OpenThe job is accepting applications. Workers can browse and apply.
In ProgressA worker has been accepted and assigned. Messaging is available. Work is underway.
CompletedThe work is done. Both parties can now leave ratings and reviews.
CancelledThe job was cancelled by the client.
ExpiredNo applications were accepted before the job's start date passed.

Payment Types Explained

MaidServSA does not process payments. All payments are made directly between the homeowner and the worker.

Fixed Price

The homeowner sets a single price for the entire job. You agree to the total amount before the work begins. This is best for clearly defined, one-time tasks.

Hourly Rate

The homeowner sets a rate per hour. The total payment depends on how long the work takes. This is best for jobs where the time needed may vary.

How You Get Paid

Payment is arranged directly between the client and the worker. We recommend:

  • EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) -- bank-to-bank payment
  • Cash -- paid in person on completion

The payment method and terms should be discussed before the work begins. Check the job posting for the client's preferred method.

Location Privacy

Your privacy matters to us. Here's how location information works:

  • When you post a job: Your suburb or area is shown publicly so workers can find jobs near them. Your exact street address is not visible.
  • When a worker is accepted: Only then is the full address shared with that specific worker.
  • For workers searching: You can see the general area of a job and the distance from your location, but not the exact address until you're accepted.

Calendar and Scheduling

MaidServSA includes a built-in calendar to help you stay organised:

  • When posting a job: Select one or more dates on the calendar for when you need the work done.
  • Viewing your schedule: Switch between month, week, day, and year views to see all your upcoming jobs at a glance.
  • Scheduling protection: The system automatically checks for conflicts, so workers won't be double-booked on the same dates.

Access your calendar from the navigation menu to keep track of everything.
